As a couple, we love experiencing romantic Thailand. There are some gorgeous resorts, attractions, restaurants and experiences that are perfect for you and your partner. That is why we are sharing our things to do in Thailand for couples, so that you can enjoy some romance with your other half during your trip.
Romantic things to do in Thailand for couples
Rooftop bars – What could be more romantic than sipping a cocktail, watching the sunset over a bustling city with your loved one. Bangkok is full of rooftop bars but you can also find rooftop bars in other cities in Thailand too.
Book a villa – One of my favourite things about Thailand, is how beautiful but cheap villa renting can be. Head to an island or one of the seafront cities (like Pattaya or Hua Hin) and book yourself a villa with a private pool – then relax! As a busy teacher over here, this is my idea of a romantic, perfect week away.
Couples massage – Spa treatments are a big thing in Bangkok, so why not take advantage of this and make it a couple’s massage.
Cooking class – Thailand has some of the best food in the world and cooking classes are aplenty in the cities and towns. Many schools offer tailored sessions for couples and include a trip to a local market and romantic setting to sit and eat your cooking.
Snorkelling or Scuba diving – For couples that love the water, the seas of Thailand offer some incredible sights. Get yourself to Koh Samui to explore the Ang Thomg National Marine Park for some breathtaking views and amazing water life.
Rent a long tail boat – Whether it is in the city of Bangkok or around the islands, renting a boat and exploring the canals, river, sea, lagoons, caves and marine parks is just a perfect way to spend some relaxing time with your partner.
Propose – With stunning beaches, mountain hikes, perfect restaurants, sky bars galore and private venues for decent prices, it is no wonder that Thailand sees thousands of proposals every year. Romantic places to visit in Thailand for couples
Phang Nga Bay – Similar to Vietnam’s Halong Bay, these limestone islands rise vertically from the sea and were made famous in James Bond’s; The Man with the Golden Gun. Take a cruise around the bay or stay in one of the nearby islands.
Krabi – The limestone cliffs of Krabi are perfect for couples looking for stunning views or those who love climbing. The mangrove forest and
Chiang Mai – This city offers tribe villages, hiking trails, quieter temples and elephant camps. But, they also offer hot air ballooning; a romantic experience for you and your loved one to see the mountainous views of Northern Thailand in your private balloon. Whilst you’re here, you may also want to head towards the countryside and visit the rice paddies; you can even find resorts and villas hidden among the fields.
Koh Kood – This is one of Thailand’s least visited islands and it home to some luxurious retreats. Head to Soneva Kiri and enjoy dinner in a bamboo tree pod that hovers over the forest whilst you are served dinner via a zip line.
Koh Samui – This is an incredibly popular island to escape to. 5 star resorts can be found all over the island, offering picturesque atmospheres, stunning suites and top-rate cuisine from around the world. For the ultimate luxury, look at the Banyan Tree Samui, The Kala, Conrad Koh Samui and Deva Beach Resort and Spa.
Koh Phi Phi – This is a beautiful island in Thailand, made famous from the movie The Beach. Hike to the Koh Phi Phi viewpoint for an incredible view or hire a scooter and explore the island with your partner; you’ll be surprised how many quiet areas of beach and mountains you can find.
Bangkok – As someone who lives in Bangkok (and who has dedicated a whole blog to all things Bangkok), there was no way Bangkok wasn’t going to make it to this list. There are some romantic gems around the city; from top hotels and restaurants, to quieter temples, pretty parks, bustling markets and an endless array of sky bars.
Khao Yai National Park – With green-covered mountains, impressive waterfalls and endless flora and fauna, this National Park is a must for couples who love getting lost in nature.
Hua Hin – A 3 hour drive from Bangkok, Hua Hin offers a more relaxed way of life. You can visit the sandy beaches, wander around the coastline, explore the national park and just slow down. For us, this is a perfect romantic weekend break from the city of Bangkok.

Chakrabongse Villas – this is a cluster of suites in the gardens of a former royal residence and is stunning. It’s location on the river is breathtaking and you can even hire out a speedboat and drive for the day to get a luxury tour of Bangkok via the canals.
Four Seasons Golden Triangle Tented Camp – just outside of Chiang Rai, this luxury safari-style tent is hidden amidst the forest and not far from the Mekong river. It is the perfect place to relax, go for long walks and also take a cooking class.
Rayavadee – This luxury hotel is surrounded by cliffs, offers a private beach but also stands within a tropical forest. You can hire a speedboat to the nearby remote beach of Poda Island or enjoy a candlelit dinner in the nearby caves.
