Bangkok is my favorite city in the world – I just can’t get enough of it. Every time I touch down in the “City of Angels”, I make it a point to explore new corners and crash at different hotels. Bangkok is a sprawling city and there are so many neighborhoods and cool areas of town begging to be explored. So, I like to mix things up and stay in different areas whenever I visit.

Conrad Bangkok Review

That brings us to Conrad Bangkok, a hotel I’ve stayed at twice now. There are some great, small boutique hotels in Bangkok but the Conrad Bangkok is anything but that.

This swanky 5-star property is located right near Lumphini Park and ticks all the boxes for a luxury stay. In this post, I’m sharing my no-nonsense and detailed review of the hotel. We’ll dive into room quality, amenities, and even the pros and cons of staying here so that you can decide if Conrad Bangkok is the right choice for you.

Location

Location pros:

One of the biggest wins for staying at Conrad Bangkok is its close proximity to Lumphini Park, Bangkok’s oldest and most famous green space (and a fun, free thing to do in Bangkok). The park is just a 10-minute stroll away from the hotel, ideal for early morning runs or sunset walks.

Safety-wise, the hotel is situated on a road packed with embassies. Although I’ve never personally felt unsafe in Bangkok, this makes the Conrad a solid pick for travelers who value a bit of extra security.

There are also a few good cafes in the area for grabbing a coffee, a quick bite, or getting some work done. Plus, there’s a 7-11 right next door to the hotel for all those little essentials or late-night snack cravings.

Conrad Bangkok is about a 15-minute walk to the bustling Nana Plaza and only 10 minutes to the Phloen Chit BTS station, where you’ll also find Central Embassy Mall. Phloen Chit BTS is just one stop away from the “R Walk”, a skywalk that connects a series of some of Bangkok’s best malls including CentralwOrld, Platinum Fashion Mall, Gaysorn Village, and Erawan Mall. Shopping is very popular here just one reason to visit Bangkok.

All in all, Conrad Bangkok’s location pretty much checks all the boxes for a comfortable stay.

Location cons:

While Conrad Bangkok Hotel is a decent 10-minute walk to the Phloen Chit BTS station, it could definitely be closer, especially on hot and humid days. Additionally, the hotel entrance can be a bit tricky to locate, which sometimes complicates things if you’re ordering a taxi through apps like Bolt or Grab.

Although there are restaurants and cafes in the area, foodies might be disappointed by the lack of street food options around the hotel. The closest street food stalls are about a 10 to 15-minute walk away.

Finally, if you’re a first-time visitor to Bangkok with plans to hit major sights like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and Chatuchak Market, Conrad’s location might not be the most convenient. It’s a bit removed from these iconic attractions, so consider this if you’ve only got a few days in the city and plan to do lots of sightseeing.

The room at the Conrad Bangkok Hotel

I had the opportunity to stay in both the Deluxe and Executive Rooms, and they’re pretty similar in terms of basics. ​​The room décor seamlessly blends neutral tones with dark wood and marble accents on the nightstands, dressers, luggage benches, and even the floors—making the room feel seriously luxurious.

The bed is huge and soft while the pillows are super plush, perfect for sinking into after a long day of exploring. Each room also boasts a cozy seating nook right next to sweeping city-view windows and a dedicated work table and chair for those laptop sessions.

As far as room size is concerned, space is ample in both room types, with plenty of room to store your luggage and belongings without it feeling cluttered. 

The bathroom keeps up with the overall upscale vibe, decked out in marble and stone with a roomy bathtub and a separate walk-in shower that has a rain shower head. Counter space is plentiful and there is a large mirror along with a smaller, magnifying mirror, making getting ready a breeze. To top it off, the bathroom is equipped with a smart, Japanese-style toilet with a built-in bidet.

So, what sets the Executive Room a cut above the Deluxe?

It’s all in the details. The moment you enter, the room warmly welcomes you—the lights flicker on, and the window shades automatically roll up to unveil the spectacular Bangkok skyline. Extra perks include a selection of snacks like fresh fruit and coconut chips, as well as bonus water bottles.

The Executive Room also offers a “turn-down service,” where staff thoughtfully prepare your room for the night, right down to placing your slippers next to your bed along with a water bottle and glass on the nightstand.

Another bonus of the Executive Room is the adorable plush elephant branded with a Conrad Bangkok tag that is placed on your bed, which you can take home as a keepsake. And if you’re an Executive Room guest, you’re invited to start your day with breakfast at the exclusive Executive Lounge and wind down with an evening cocktail hour, complete with light bites.

Diplomat Bar

The Diplomat Bar is the perfect place to kick back in style, located just off the lobby. Guests can enjoy specialty cocktails, curated wines, and a tasty assortment of sweet and savory snacks. Plus, there’s a live band that plays every night except Sundays.

Restaurants

In addition to the Diplomat Bar, Conrad Bangkok boasts two on-site restaurants situated on the third floor of the hotel. KiSara offers a straightforward menu of authentic Japanese dishes, while Liu serves up Cantonese food with both traditional and modern takes.

Because of its location on Sukhuvmit Road, you can access plenty of different restaurants in the area, from the best ramen in Bangkok to the quirky Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant.

Pool

Conrad Bangkok has a beautiful palm-tree-lined pool that gives off a tropical urban jungle vibe. There’s a separate jacuzzi area for relaxing and a pool bar for when you need a snack or refreshing drink.

Gym & Spa

The entire 7th floor of the Conrad Bangkok Hotel is dedicated to health and wellbeing. The gym has all the essentials for a solid workout, and the spa offers 11 treatment rooms for various services like massages and facials. They also have hydrotherapy facilities, including a Japanese tub and a sauna.

Transport

A shuttle service is available to the Phloen Chit BTS station, leaving every 15 minutes from the lobby. This definitely helps remedy the distance to the BTS, which can seem like a never-ending walk, especially on scorching hot or rainy days in Bangkok.

Is Conrad Bangkok Hotel for you?

If you’re seeking a blend of comfort and luxury in the heart of the city, then Conrad Bangkok might just be the choice for you. From top-notch facilities to plush rooms, this property has all of the amenities to make your stay special.

Moreover, Conrad Hotel Bangkok is an excellent option if you’re planning on indulging in some retail therapy as it’s conveniently located near some of Bangkok’s top malls.

But if your Bangkok itinerary is more about temple-hopping, exploring the Old Town, or late nights on Khaosan Road, then this hotel might not be your ideal base. Especially if you’re on a tight schedule, you might want to consider booking accommodation closer to the city’s main attractions.

Prices

Unlike other expensive destinations like Dubrovnik, London, or Rome, traveling to Thailand means that you can take advantage of the country’s affordable luxury. This is a great time to indulge in a 5-star stay that might not usually be in your budget in Western countries.

So, although Conrad Bangkok is more expensive than your average hotel in the city, you’re still getting an incredible bang for your buck.

Depending on what time of year you visit Bangkok, you could even score a night at the Conrad for as low as 5,456 Baht during the low season.

Final Thoughts
