After living in Bangkok for four years, we have enjoyed our fair share of cocktails. Bangkok is home to all types of bars; from rooftop cocktail bars with gorgeous views, to hidden gems and speakeasies. There is something different and unique for everyone, so let’s get sipping!
Best Cocktail Bars in Bangkok
1. The Bamboo Bar
As one of Bangkok’s oldest and most iconic bars, The Bamboo Bar exudes a timeless charm with its 1940s-inspired jazz club decor.
Located within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, it has gained global recognition for its creative cocktails that incorporate local Thai ingredients.
Live jazz performances enhance the elegant atmosphere, making it a must-visit for lovers of sophisticated drinks and ambiance. This is a more luxurious experience with a higher price point than other places on this list.
Also, if you are staying here the night, make sure to enjoy a Mandarin Oriental Afternoon tea; this is my favorite afternoon tea in Bangkok!

2. Sky Bar
Sky Bar is famous for its breathtaking panoramic views from the 63rd floor of the Lebua State Tower; our favourite hotel in Bangkok.
Known for its cameo in The Hangover Part II, it’s a go-to for luxurious experiences and spectacular sunsets. While the prices are on the higher end, the creative cocktails and stunning vistas more than justify the cost.
If you want to stay a night in Lebua, check out their website directly for deals; they often have a deal which includes breakfast, cocktails and/or afternoon tea.

One of our best cocktail bars in Bangkok, in our opinion, is Tropic City. This is a colorful bar inspired by tropical vibes, specializing in rum-based cocktails with bold, fruity flavors.
Its vibrant decor, complete with neon lights and tropical murals, creates a lively and welcoming ambiance. This bar is perfect for those who love innovative drinks and a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
This isn’t located in a hotel and gives a more local, relaxed vibe than other options on this list.

Also not far from Teens of Thailand and locaed in Chinatown, is our next best cocktail bars in Bangok; Asia Today.
Asia Today is celebrated for its adventurous use of local Thai ingredients, including rare herbs and exotic botanicals. Tucked away in Chinatown, this bar focuses on sustainable and creative mixology.
The cozy setting and innovative menu make it a great choice for friends and couples. The I BAEL YOU cocktail is my personal favourite!

Hotel Muse is a popular, trendy hotel in the Chit Lom area, so of course it is home to another one of the best cocktail bars in Bangkok.
Combining 1920s-inspired decor with a rooftop setting, The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar offers both charm and spectacular views. It serves a mix of classic and modern cocktails, perfect for enjoying a sunset or a sophisticated evening out. The cozy seating and attentive service add to the overall experience.

Iron Balls Distillery Bar is a visually striking venue that also serves as a gin distillery. We actually visited the originally before it moved to Ekkamai,and both venues are equally unique and impressive.
Known for its house-distilled spirits, the bar offers a unique selection of cocktails in a chic industrial setting. It’s a must-visit for gin lovers and those interested in handcrafted spirits.
Visit on a cooler day to sit outside and enjoy a quiet drink or stick to the industrial inside for a quirky experience.

11. Aqua Bar at Anantara Siam
Aqua offers a serene, open-air setting within the luxurious Anantara Siam Hotel. Surrounded by lush greenery, it’s a tranquil spot to enjoy refreshing cocktails in a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.
This is one of our favourite romantic hotels and luxury hotels in Bangkok, so heading here for a staycation and enjoying a few cocktails after dinner is one of our best date night suggestions.
They also have small nibbles to choose but the signature cocktails are what we visit for; the Smoky Donut is my favourite rich, bitter cocktail whilst the straawbery fields cocktail is perfect for warm evenings.

12. Smalls
Smalls is a neighborhood favorite known for its bohemian vibe and eclectic decor. The bar’s extensive absinthe selection and creative cocktails attract both locals and expats. Live music performances add to its laid-back charm, making it a great spot for a casual night out.
There are a few international and local dishes to try and prices are fairly reasonable. Their Banh Mi for 150B is delicious, perfect when paired with an espresso martini.

Tep Bar is a celebration of traditional Thai culture with a modern twist, located in Chinatown.

Like many of the bars in Chinatown, it also has live traditional music performances, but also offers rustic yet contemporary decor to add a distinct charm.

Havana Social transports you to 1940s Cuba with its retro decor, dim lighting, and lively atmosphere. Hidden behind a vintage phone booth, this speakeasy-style bar is known for its rum-based cocktails and live Latin music.
It’s a vibrant spot for those seeking an energetic night out and we love all the creative cocktails! They also have a great happy hour from 6-8pm for 200B cocktails!

16. Above Riva
Located by the Chao Phraya River, Above Riva offers stunning views of Wat Arun and the river. This is a romantic spot for cocktails and a meal, with some fantastic dishes too; we love the garlic scaloops, river prawn Pad Thai and Tamarind Lamb. This is also one of the best seafood restaurants in Bangkok, ideal for those wanting to try and enjoy some local flavors.
The Bangkok rooftop bar specializes in refreshing cocktails that complement its serene setting. With its relaxing atmosphere and picturesque views, it’s a perfect spot for a sunset drink.

- How to Get There: BTS Saphan Taksin, then take a boat to Tha Tien Pier. It’s a short walk from there.

Canvas Bar emphasizes artistic cocktails served with eye-catching presentations. The drinks often feature edible flowers, foams, and other creative garnishes.
This is ones of the best cocktail bars in Bangkok, located within a sleek, modern interior with an inventive menu.
They also offer food like river prawn, softshell crab and duck breast but we head here for the creative cocktails after a meal at one of the nearby restaurants (there are plenty in the area). However, this place has just been recognized by the team at Michelin Star in Bangkok, so we will have to try the food next time!

18. Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar
Situated on the 45th floor, Octave Rooftop Lounge offers 360-degree views of Bangkok’s skyline. This rooftop bar is known for its relaxed vibe and vibrant cocktails that pair perfectly with the stunning scenery.
It’s a great place to enjoy both drinks and a breathtaking sunset but it is a more touristy thing to do in Bangkok. Its location in the Marriott and being featured on many best rooftop bars in Bangkok lists, this place sees plenty of locals and tourists.
However, they have plenty of dishes and snacks like the impressive seafood tower and charcuterie boards (my fave). They also have delicious coctails like the Berry Bliss and Passionfruit Margarita.

19. Ku Bar
Ku Bar is an intimate speakeasy located above a bookstore in Bangkok’s old town. Known for its minimalistic design and expertly crafted drinks, the bar offers a tranquil atmosphere away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The menu often incorporates seasonal Thai ingredients, making each visit a new experience. This hidden gem is a quirky place to visit but does require a little bravery when ordering some of the cocktails; the cury leaf cocktail was suprisingly nicer than expected.

20. AIRE Bar
The next one of our best cocktail bars in Bangok is a rooftop bar which offers a cozy, laid-back vibe paired with impressive city views.
The drinks menu features a mix of tropical and classic cocktails, served creatively; their class mojito is Calums favourite but I love their Pimm’s Cup and Tropical Storm for those hotter nights.
There is also a few small and lare bites, like the mini croque monsier, wagyu mini burger or fried calamari.

22. The Loft
Located on the top floor of the Waldorf Astoria, The Loft offers an upscale setting with city views and classic cocktails inspired by 1920s New York.
The luxurious decor and expert mixologists make this bar a perfect choice for a sophisticated night out and a romantic date night. Drinks are more expensive here though, but the welcoming staff, calm atmosphere and great view make it worth a drink or two.
There is also an extensive whisky and brandy list as well as plemty of wines to choose from.

23. Vertigo and Moon Bar
Vertigo and Moon Bar is one of the most famous rooftop bars in Bangkok, located on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel.
Known for its jaw-dropping views and elegant ambiance, it’s a favorite spot for couples and special occasions. The signature cocktails and gourmet bites enhance the overall experience; although prices are hight compared to other spots on this list.
For cocktails, their Summer Spritzer and Golden Cooler are perfect for those warm Bangkok nights as is their Spiced Colado. For food, we stick with sharing some appetizers linke the Fine de Claire Oyster or the incredible seafood Tower.

24. Something Wicked
Tucked away on Sukhuvmit 81, this little, understated cocktail bar is one of my favourite. It opened just as the pandemic ended and we actually ended up going to one of their soft openings. This meant the bartender gave us plenty of samples of the various whiskys and gins they had, and we could workour way through the delicious, high-end cocktail menu.
The bar is initimate and mysterious, with a voo-doo style that transports you to New Orleans. Drinks are identified as different coloured potions (I personally loved the green potion) and there are plenty of mixers available too.

- How to Get There: Around a 14 minute walk from On Nut BTS.
- Typical Prices: THB 340+

25. Pastel Bangkok
And our final best cocktail bars in Bangkok is Pastel Bangkok. This is a chic rooftop cocktail bar located on the 22nd floor of Aira Hotel in the vibrant Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.
The bar offers a Mediterranean-inspired ambiance with panoramic city views, making it a chic, romantic experience.
For food, there is plenty to chose from, from Pork Belly Toast (Calum’s favourite) to Lobster Futtuccine (my fave). The drinks menu is also extensive, with lots of mediterrean, European flavors; we love the Sky Mykonos and the Costa Azure.
