Best Sushi in Bangkok: 15 best Sushi Restaurants you must try

The best Sushi in Bangkok is debated, but after 4 years of trying as much as possible, we share our top 15.

Bangkok is a vibrant city with a diverse sushi scene, plus some fantastic Bangkok Seafood restaurants to choose from. From Michelin-starred omakase to casual izakaya-style spots, we share the best sushi in Bangkok.

Best Sushi in Bangkok

1. Sushi Masato – Phrom Phong

A top pick for high-end omakase, Sushi Masato is led by Chef Masato Shimizu, formerly Michelin-starred in New York.

This intimate ten-seater provides an elaborate 20-course experience using the freshest ingredients flown in from Japan. The omakase here is known for meticulously crafted nigiri, and each dish is a testament to the chef’s dedication to traditional sushi methods.

Reservations are essential, often booked months in advance. This is a more expensive experience in Bangkok, ideal for a special occasion.

Ginza Sushi Ichi - Siam

2. Ginza Sushi Ichi – Siam

For arguably the best sushi in Bangkok, this high-end restaurant is a great pic.

Ginza Sushi Ichi, with one Michelin star, offers an authentic omakase that mirrors its Tokyo counterpart. This restaurant specializes in showcasing seasonal ingredients, especially from Toyosu Market in Japan.

Diners can enjoy meticulously crafted sashimi and nigiri with the chef’s skill evident in each bite.

It’s a pricey experience, but highly recommended for purists. The restaurant is also located in Gaysorn Village, near Chit Lom BTS and Central World Shopping Mall

Fillets Sushi in Bangkok

3. Fillets – Langsuan

Fillets combines an Edo-period-inspired setting with a modern sushi twist, making it a unique, charming place to enjoy some of the best sushi in Bangkok.

Known for its omakase courses and creative dishes, this restaurant is managed by Chef Randy Nopprapa, a protégé of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Aside from sushi, the restaurant also offers dry-aged beef and unique fusion dishes.

Fillets is a great choice for those looking to explore new flavors and we recommend sampling the sake too.

Mugendai has some of the best sushi in Bangkok

4. Mugendai – Thonglor

Located in Bangkok’s trendy Thonglor district, right in EmQuartier, Mugendai is another place to find some of the best sushi in Bangkok.

Offering a luxurious sushi experience with high-quality ingredients, including fresh seafood from Japan, this is one of our favorite places to go on date night. The quality is great and the price is reasonable too.

The restaurant features both traditional sushi and modern takes on Japanese cuisine, making it ideal for those seeking a mix of flavors. We love the Shirauo Karaage and their super toast series; sushi flavors atop toast!

5. Honmono Sushi – multiple locations

Honmono Sushi is a well-established chain with locations across the city, offering some of the best sushi in Bangkok at affordable prices.

This restaurant is popular for its quality ingredients and diverse menu, which includes unique rolls like the Matsuzaka Foie Gras Roll. Honmono is known for its generous portions and accessibility, offering premium sushi without the exclusivity of omakase-only spots.

Individual sushi pieces begin at just 50B each and we love their soba noodles and sashimi.

Joushitsu Sushi

6. Joushitsu Sushi – Ekkamai

Joushitsu Sushi is a small boutique restaurant specializing in traditional sushi. This is an overlooked best sushi in Bangkok spot and we love that it is full of Japanese expats and locals.

Known for sourcing its seafood directly from Japan, Joushitsu is all about authenticity, focusing on the natural flavors of its ingredients.

Prices are midrange; not as high as the Michelin star choices on this list but not as cheap as some of the chains mentioned further down. However, we find the price is great for the quality and range of sushi available.

You can also order various other Japanese items like edamame, udon noodle dishes, curries, and Japanese steak.

Tenshino

7. Tenshino – Pullman Bangkok King Power

For a unique twist on the best sushi in Bangkok, Tenshino blends Japanese and French influences.

Located in the Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel, this stylish spot serves sushi with a French flair, such as tuna tartare with miso or fusion nigiri with delicate sauces.

Tenshino is a favorite for diners seeking creativity in their sushi and we love visiting the Glen Bar located in the hotel, for a few creative cocktails after our meal.

Koken Sushi & Dining Bar - Sathon

8. Koken Sushi & Dining Bar – Sathon

Koken Sushi is a cozy dining bar that offers an authentic yet casual sushi experience.

The focus here is on quality and craftsmanship without the high-end price tag, making it an accessible option for sushi lovers. For example, you can get sushi cones from 220B while a full rill begins around 300B, offering 8 pieces.

Calum loves the tuna tataki here and I love the salmon set.

It’s a great choice for those who want to enjoy traditional sushi in a relaxed atmosphere. We love coming here in the cooler months like December and January and then sitting out in their patio area.

Isao

9. Isao

Located in Sukhumvit 31, Isao is famous for its fusion rolls, particularly the “Jackie” and “Crunchy” rolls. This cozy spot also serves a unique sushi sandwich made with layers of fresh fish and tempura crumbs.

There are plenty of appetizers and salads to choose from but we are here for those crispy rolls; I love the spider roll full of deep-fried soft shell crab and avocado, and Calum loves the Sushi Sandwich, full of spicy tuna and salmon between tempura flakes.

Isao is an understated, local spot with delicious flavors at reasonable prices; it is one of our favorite places for the best sushi in Bangkok.

Sushi Misaki-Nobu

10. Sushi Misaki-Nobu

Situated in Silom, this elegant omakase spot offers an authentic experience with expertly crafted sushi courses starting from around 4,800 baht.

It’s a popular choice for those seeking a traditional Japanese sushi experience with artistic presentations.

11. Sushiro

With multiple branches in malls across Bangkok, Sushiro provides a lively conveyor-belt sushi experience with a range of plates priced affordably.

This is your typical sushi conveyor belt, with each plate being color-coded and lots of options available.

Sushi Plus Bangkok Conveyor Belt

12. Sushi Plus

Another favorite place to get some of the best sushi in Bangkok is Sushi Plus. We always end up in the Mega Bangna branch but there are plenty all over the city to choose from.

Not only is there plenty of fresh sushi to enjoy but they also have a QR code that takes you to a digital menu. Here, you can order hot dishes like tempura, as well as cold drinks and these come whizzing along on a train above the conveyor belt.

This is one of the more affordable spots in the city too and we love visiting before going to the cinema nearby.

Sushi Yorokobu

13. Sushi Yorokobu

Combining Edomae tradition with innovation, Sushi Yorokobu offers omakase courses with 12, 16, and 20 courses. These cost 2900++, 5900++ and 8000++.

Located in Wireless BDMS and Thong Lo, the restaurant is known for its fresh ingredients and meticulous presentation, making it a high-end experience and great for special occasions.

Sushi Masa

14. Sushi Masa

Found in locations such as Petchburi Road and Witthayu Road, Sushi Masa is a go-to for generous portions of fresh fish like salmon, unagi, and hamachi. Known for its “Masa Special Set,” it’s an accessible spot for high-quality sushi.

We tend to visit the location on Thong Lo 5 Alley, which is a fair size but feels local and hidden from the touristy areas. Plus the prices are reasonable, with salmon dom starting at 480B and whole sushi rolls starting at 300B. This is a great spot to visit for lunch.

Soshi at So/Bangkok is home to the best sushi in Bangkok

15. Soshi at So/Bangkok

located in one of my favorite hotels in Bangkok, So Sushi is a must for visitors and expats. This hotel is home to an incredible chocolate afternoon tea in Bangkok, but if you don’t want something quite as sweet, then head to the So Sushi restaurant located here.

This is where the art of traditional Japanese cooking is mixed with a creative menu, devised by Chef Sornnarin.

The restaurant itself is modern and vibrant, and the staff goes above and beyond to help and assist.

I love that this is a buffet too, meaning you can try all sorts of sushi, sashimi, and grilled items!
