Escape Bar Bangkok Review
Escape Bar Bangkok Location
Located on the 5th floor of The EmQuartier shopping mall in Phnom Phong, this is an easy bar and restaurant to reach.
The easiest way to reach the Escape Bar, is to catch the BTS Sukhumvit line to Phrom Phong Station. There are two malls connected to the station, one being Emporium (a high-end fashion mall) and the other being EmQuartier. Both are labeled with the name of the mall, but you can also work out which is EmQuartier by judging the size of the mall; EmQuartier is the larger mall, with various buildings attached to one another.
Once you have entered the mall, take the escalator or elevator to the 5th floor. The elevator opens up to the Escape Bar entrance, whilst the escalator takes you to a Bounce trampoline park. You can walk through the park to get to the bar.
Setting and Decor
The chic, contemporary decor is what makes this rooftop bar stand out from the crowd. There are plenty of rooftop bars in Bangkok, but Escape gives a relaxed but fun vibe.
From the rooftop, you can get a decent view of the area, but because this is on the 5th floor, you aren’t going to get as great of view as other sky bars in the city.
There is outdoor seating, complete with comfortable lounges as well high tables with bar stools, so you can choose your preference. There aer also plush cushions and stylish furniture to add to the relaxing atmosphere here.
You can expect plenty of greenery, with vertical plants and hanging vines, but also fairy lights and lanterns.
We recommend visiting just before sunset; get yourself a comfortable lounge seat, watch the sunset and see the atmosphere change from a mellow relaxing afternoon vibe to a vibrant, tropical vacation.
Menu at the Escape Bangkok Bar
You can choose to visit the Escape Bar in Bangkok for just drinks but you are missing out if you don’t try the food. The menu includes quirky, luxury takes on your staple bar food, but also offers delicious seafood and high-quality meats.
The Salt & Pepper Squid is fresh and crispy, whilst the Lemongrass Prawns are my favorite appetizer here. The Salmon Thorn Nam Pla brings together salmon and Thai flavors and we also love the Mediterranean Mussel pot.
The delicate seared scallops and fresh Oysters are a must try if you love seafood, but for me, the crab sliders are incredible. There are plenty of salads and pastas available, with the Seafood Marinara being a great choice.
The Wagyu Beef Krapraw is a high-end take on the traditional Thai dish, as is the Beef Cheek Massaman.
Finish your meal with one of their tasty dessert items: Creme Brûlée, White Chocolate Panna Cotta, Affogato, chocolate temptation (a chocolate lava cake) or Tiramisu.
Drinks at the Escape Bar Bangkok
The Escape Bar Bangkok offers your typical soft drinks, beers and bottles but also some traditional and more unique cocktails; similar to some of the most unique cafes in Bangkok but with alcohol and a great view!
Sailor on Wrath and Flora Wind offer fruity flavors, but may favorite drink here is the Ha Long Dream.
Quality of the food
The quality of food at the Escape Restaurant is fantastic. The menu isn’t extensive but what they do serve, is of high quality. If you like seafood, then this place is for you, but it isn’t perhaps the place to go if you are looking for traditional western dishes or large portions.
Customer Service
The staff are friendly and polite here. They shared any deals and happy hours available at the time and were attentive with us during our visit. We visited on a Friday night, so it graduate become busier and busier, and the staff worked hard to ensure everyone was seen to quickly and had a space to sit or stand.
The Price and Value
Prices at Escape Bar Bangkok are mixed, depending on your opinion. We felt that compared to local cafes and restaurants, prices were a little higher for drinks but the quality and experience made it worth it. I also felt that prices were lower than some of the other rooftop bars you will find in Bangkok; so overall prices are fair.
For example, a cocktail in a western style bar would be around 280B but cost around 360/380B at Escape, but in other rooftop bars, I have paid between 380 – 500B. The prices for the food are reasonable; calamari costs just 250B and this is a a typical price you will pay for a western dish in a bar. We have also paid 480B for calamari in a rooftop bar before as well.
The food is elevated and the price reflects that but it is worth the price for the experience, atmosphere and quality you receive.
