These romantic restaurants in Bangkok offer charming settings, delicious food and great service; so you can plan the perfect date night in the city.
We love Bangkok, and after living here as a married couple for four years, we have had our fair share of romantic date nights and meals out. We wanted to share our favorite romantic restaurants, which suit a range of budgets and cuisine preferences; from Michelin-star restaurants in Bangkok to dinner and cocktail bars in Bangkok.
Most Romantic Restaurants in Bangkok
Vertigo and Moon Bar
Situated on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, Vertigo and Moon Bar offers a panoramic view of Bangkok’s skyline; this is often known as one of the most romantic things to do in Bangkok too. The elegant rooftop setting offers a romantic experience for many; you can enjoy just drinks here but we recommend a meal here if your budget can stretch to it.
There are degustations set menu options, starting at 3400B per person, or 4300B per person with wine included. We tried the 3-course set menu and loved the Salmon Caesar Salad and their gorgeous Black Angus Tenderloin. The a la carte menu features a juicy Kurobuta Pork Chop dish and Lobster Risotto.
The soft lighting and cozy seating create an intimate atmosphere, perfect for a date.
Sirocco
Known as the world’s highest alfresco restaurant, Sirocco at Lebua State Tower is a must-visit; you may recognize it from the Hangover 2 movie. The dramatic cityscape and live jazz music set the mood, while the Mediterranean-inspired cuisine ensures a delightful culinary journey.
The menu varies depending on the season but you can expect delicious seafood dishes and wagyu beef. We recommend getting the set menu though, as individual items can be pricey; starters begin at 1070B and although we loved the Japanese A5 Wagyu beef, it would have cost 4650B if it wasn’t part of a set menu.
You can head to just the Sky Bar for a pricey but delicious cocktail, and we recommend doing at least this if you are staying nearby.
The Deck by Arun Residence
Nothing beats a romantic meal, sitting along the river and enjoying the views. At the next romantic restaurants in Bangkok, you can do just that.
The Deck by Arun Residence offers a stunning view of Wat Arun, especially at sunset. The candle-lit tables and Thai-European fusion menu create a warm and memorable dining experience.
This is a more affordable option compared to the above two; you can get yourself a tasty cocktail from just 199B, small plates begin at 190B and mains begin at 320B. I loved their half rack of ribs for 490B and their Thai dishes like Satay Gai (220B) and Red Curry (280B) were delicious.
The restaurant is part of a hotel, so you can enjoy an evening at the hotel too for affordable rates; we really enjoyed this experience for our wedding anniversary.
Sala Rattanakosin Eatery and Bar
Overlooking the Chao Phraya River and Wat Arun, Sala Rattanakosin offers a chic yet cozy ambiance and is another one of the best romantic restaurants in Bangkok. Its rooftop bar and riverside dining area are perfect for couples, similar to The Deck (in fact it is not too far away).
The menu features a mix of Thai and international dishes, complemented by an extensive wine list. There is a lot of great seafood here and prices are slightly higher than The Deck (I compare because they are so near each other). We had the Soft Shell Crab curry for 490B and Calum enjoyed the Massaman Braided Lamb Shank for 690B.
Similar to The Deck, this is also part of a hotel, so you can spend a night here as well.
Escape Bar
There are plenty of wonderful rooftop bars in Bangkok and the Escape Bangkok Bar is an overlooked, local option. Located atop of EmQuartier, a popular shopping mall in Thonglor, this feels like a literal ESCAPE within the heart of the city.
Visit in the early evening for a quiet cocktail and meal with your loved one, or head here later in the night (on weekends) for lively music and dancing.
Blue by Alain Ducasse
Located in ICONSIAM, Blue by Alain Ducasse is a Michelin-starred restaurant that exudes luxury and sophistication. Although this can be expensive, the experience is phenomenal. The elegantly designed interior and meticulously crafted French dishes make it an excellent choice for a romantic celebration.
I love the afternoon tea here but the diner menu is what you need to be here for; the 4 course set menu begins at 3900B. We enjoyed the Smoked salmon in French Brioche and the Venison with smoked beets and blueberries.
Issaya Siamese Club
Set in a charming colonial-style house surrounded by lush gardens, Issaya Siamese Club offers an intimate and enchanting atmosphere; it feels like you are in a local Thai home.
The modern Thai cuisine, crafted by renowned Chef Ian Kittichai, is as delightful as the setting. Set menus cost 1900B, with items liked spice rubbed pork baby back ribs, Khao Yai Chicken and Day Boat Caught Tiger Prawns being offered.
Le Normandie
Another one of romantic restaurants in Bangkok offering French cuisine, is Le Normandie.Located in my favorite hotel, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, this restaurant boasts two Michelin stars.
The exquisite French cuisine, impeccable service, and sophisticated ambiance make it a top pick for couples celebrating special occasions. This is a luxury, high-end, with dishes like Kristal Caviar, Foie Gras and Bouillabaisse on offer. Prices match the elegance, with a 7 course set menu costing 8000B.
Whilst in the hotel, make sure to also enjoy the Mandarin Oriental Afternoon Tea; one of the best afternoon teas in Bangkok in my opinion.
Hajime Robot Restaurant
For something truly unique, why not check out a robot restaurant for your date night in Bangkok? Hajime is an all-you-can-eat, cook-it-yourself style restaurant, included a hotpot and Korean grill. You choose from a selection of meats to grill or cook in the hot pot, but also enjoy a selection prepared foods like Sushi, Sashimi and tempura.
Thiptara
Nestled in the gardens of The Peninsula Bangkok, Thiptara provides an idyllic riverside setting and is one of our favorite romantic restaurants in Bangkok. The teakwood pavilions and traditional Thai decor transport diners to another era, while the authentic Thai cuisine adds to a perfect evening.
We loved sitting right along the water itself, and would recommend you order a selection of dishes, so you can try a bit of everything! For starters, my favorite has to be their Gai Hor Bai Toey, a delicious chicken pandan. Their braised grilled duck leg curry (Gang Phed Ped Yang) was Calum’s favorite and I loved their Red curry pork belly dish (Moo Grob Phad Prik Phing).
Medici Kitchen & Bar
Located in the Hotel Muse Bangkok, Medici Kitchen & Bar combines rustic Italian charm with a modern twist. The candlelit ambiance and live opera performances create a magical dining experience for those wanting a unique experience.
The menu offers Italian dishes, like the Beef Tenderloin tartare at 590B and this incredible gnocchi pesto e burrata dish for 590B. I would also recommend the Tortelloni ricotta e spinaci (570B) and the Aragostella Pizza; a pizza topped with mascarpone, mozzarella and rock lobster.
Raan Jay Fai
Ok so this isn’t one of the typical romantic restaurants in Bangkok, it doesn’t offer a beautiful setting and elegant experience, but it is definitely a worth while experience to be had. Raan Jay Fai is Bangkok’s Michelin-starred street food icon; made even more famous from its appearance on a Netflix documentary about the best Street Food in the world.
Known for her legendary crab omelets, Jay Fai ensures an unforgettable meal. The queues can be long, so get here earlier in the day and bring cash; this is a great brunch or lunch date.
Gaa
This progressive Indian restaurant combines innovation with intimacy, making is another great date night in Bangkok spot. The cozy yet stylish interior gives a mixture of tradition and modern, which is also reflected in the food here.
The Gaa Experience is currently priced at 4900B per person and offers a range of bites and dishes that combines traditional Indian cooking techniques with local ingredients.
Bo.Lan
Known for its commitment to sustainability, Bo.Lan offers a romantic dining experience with its authentic Thai flavors and charming setting. The dimly lit dining room and garden views enhance the overall atmosphere and make it one of the more popular romantic restaurants in Bangkok.
The current set menu is 4800B per person, offering dishes like amuse bouche, isan style salad, steamed ’Tankun Chicken’ in banana lead and southern curries.
Red Sky
Located at Centara Grand at CentralWorld, Red Sky offers a rooftop experience with sweeping views of the city and is a popular rooftop bar in Bangkok.
Yes, you can visit for just drinks but coming here for a meal with your loved one is a must. The international menu and extensive wine list, paired with the vibrant yet cozy ambiance, make it a favorite among couples.
Prices are higher here but the dishes are unique and luxury; the seafood on ice selection includes a Maine lobster, fines de Claire oyster days and Alaskan kind grab, along with giant prawns, caviar, and mussels (7555B).
Eat Me Restaurant
Tucked away in a leafy enclave, Eat Me Restaurant combines art and gastronomy in a romantic setting. The restaurant has bene featured in the Michelin Guide for 2024, highlight just how wonderful their global fusion menu really is.
We love the sharing menu for couples; costing 2500B per person. From their current menu, we enjoyed the scallops with a lobster bisque and chorizo flavor, the wagyu short rib and lemongrass chicken. I also loved their sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce!
Baan Khanitha
With its warm and inviting ambiance, Baan Khanitha offers an authentic Thai dining experience. There are actually several Baan Khanitha’s around the city, but we love the one along the river in the IconSiam and the beautiful restaurant located in Sathorn.
At all their restaurants, you will discover some incredible Thai dishes with high-quality ingredients. We LOVE the Phuket lobster with Green Curry Sauce and Chu Chee River Prawn.
J’AIME by Jean-Michel Lorain
This Michelin-starred restaurant at U Sathorn Bangkok combines French culinary artistry with a touch of Thai elegance, creating a beautiful ambience for a romantic date in Bangkok.
The 5-course menu is currently 2800B per person, which is a fantastic price for a luxury, Michelin star restaurant in the heart of Bangkok. Stand-out dishes for us include the lamb shoulder and their Rose Ice Cream.
Supanniga Eating Room
For a laid-back yet romantic vibe, Supanniga Eating Room offers a cozy riverside dining area. There are actually three of these restaurants across the city, and we have visited both the Khun Yai restaurant in Thong Lo, and the Tha Tian restaurant, which is along the river and the more romantic setting.
The homestyle Thai dishes are reasonably priced and delicious; we love the Mango Sticky Rice!
Nahm
Located at the COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, Nahm is a Michelin-starred restaurant renowned for its authentic Thai flavors.
With the set menu currently priced at 3400B per person, you can expect a luxury, elegant experience at one of the most romantic restaurants in Bangkok
Featherstone Cafe
Tucked away in a Soi off Sukhumvit 71, is this charming, unique cafe in Bangkok but also one of the more romantic restaurants in Bangkok too. During the day, you can enjoy a light bite and one-of-a-kind coffees but during the evening, this charming spot serves up some of the best food.
From affordable T-Bone Stead with garlic herb butter to braised pork ribs and seafood pizza, there are plenty of tasty, unique dishes here.
Somtum Der
For couples who love authentic Isan (Northeastern Thai) food, Somtum Der offers a cozy and affordable dining experience in the Silom area.
From papaya salad and grilled pork neck, to Thai prawn sashimi and Tom Yum soup, there are plenty of local dishes that make this romantic restaurants in a Bangkok, a hit among locals and tourists.
Nara Thai Cuisine
With its charming decor and reasonably priced menu, Nara Thai Cuisine is an excellent choice for a romantic meal. There are several branches throughout the city but the Icon Siam option is a romantic choice along the river and the EmQuartier branch is our favorite go-to spot. All branches offer a charming, wooden Thai-style interior with plush seating and a luxury feel.
The authentic Thai dishes, such as Massaman curry and pad Thai, are perfect for sharing. The Nara’s Mix Appetizer is a great choice for couples (with some of the best pork satays and pork wontons I have never had). The ‘Hatyai’ fried chicken with garlic flakes and delicious, as is their Ayutthaya River Prawns with Red Curry Sauce.
Paste Bangkok
Paste is a Michelin-starred, with a tasting menu costing 4800B and is another one of the most romantic restaurants in Bangkok. The Panaeng Curry often makes it tot the tasting menu and is fresh, rich and flavorful.
The innovative Thai cuisine and intimate ambiance make it a great choice for couples. Plus the service here is second to none.
The Gardens of Dinsor Palace
Set in a lush garden with a serene atmosphere, this hidden gem offers affordable Western and Thai dishes and is possibly one of my favorite romantic restaurants in Bangkok.
Imagine sitting in the garden sod a Thai-styled palace, surrounded by lush greenery and charming swans paddling along the small pond in the garden area. This is such an escape from the city and a perfect way to spend an evening with a loved one.
Located near BTS Thonglor and Akamai, this restaurant is open from breakfast to dinner, and we actually enjoy Sunday brunch here; their duck confit and crispy waffle or Banana and chocolate chip waffles are musts!
For dinner, you can expect local and Western dishes, like tasty Laab Woonsen Poo Nim; a crispy soft-shell crab with glass noodles. Their pork ribs quesadillas are unique but keep those authentic Mexican flavors and the pasta dishes are some of the best we have tried in the city.
