The Bed Cinema Bangkok Review
Getting to Central World
Central World, one of the largest shopping malls in Southeast Asia and one of the best malls in Bangkok. It is centrally located in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping district, making it easily accessible from different parts of the city. There are several ways to reach Central World, depending on your starting location and preferred mode of transportation.
- BTS Skytrain: The most convenient way to reach Central World is via the BTS Skytrain. The nearest station is Chit Lom on the Sukhumvit Line, which is just a short 10-minute walk away from the mall. After exiting the BTS station, follow the skywalk that connects directly to Central World. Another nearby BTS station is Siam, which is one stop away from Chit Lom. From Siam Station, it’s about a 10-15 minute walk, also via a skywalk connected to the mall.
- Taxi or Grab: Taxis are widely available throughout Bangkok, and you can also use Grab, a ride-hailing app, to book a car directly to Central World. Our screening was early in the morning, so we opted to get a Grab there but then took the BTS back, avoiding the afternoon traffic.
- Walking: If you’re staying in the Pratunam, Siam, or Ratchaprasong areas, Central World is easily reachable on foot. The shopping district is well-paved with plenty of pedestrian paths, and walking is a great way to explore the city’s other nearby attractions like the Erawan Shrine and Gaysorn Village.
Once inside Central World, the Bed Cinema can be found within the SF World Cinema, which is located on the 7th floor.
What to Expect at The Bed Cinema Bangkok
The Bed Cinema offers a completely new way to watch movies outside of your home; with a true level of comfort!
Rest up on plush beds, complete with fluffy pillows, blankets, and adjustable headrests. The overall experience is designed for relaxation and intimacy, making it ideal for couples, friends, or anyone who wants to enjoy a movie in a more indulgent setting.
Before the movie begins
Before entering the cinema screen itself, you will first begin in a lobby area. This is a waiting area before the movie begins and offers a variety of seating to choose from. There is also food and drink in this area, and this is the same food and drink that you can then take into the cinema screen.
Ambience and Setting
The first thing you notice when entering The Bed Cinema is how upscale the atmosphere feels. The entire theater is outfitted with cozy, oversized beds that resemble something you’d find in a high-end hotel suite.
There are spacious aisles between the beds, ensuring that guests have enough room to stretch out and relax without feeling cramped or crowded by neighboring patrons.
Each bed is designed to accommodate two people comfortably, though they can be enjoyed solo as well. They also have a curved head board, so you can enjoy a more private vibe to the seating.
Comfort and Amenities
The main draw of The Bed Cinema is, of course, the luxurious beds. Each bed comes with freshly laundered sheets, plush pillows, and a cozy comforter. The beds are large enough for two adults to recline comfortably without feeling cramped.
Guests can also adjust the bed to find their preferred lounging position, allowing for an optimal viewing experience; Calum loved playing around with the remote, raising our legs, head, shoulders back and forth during the movie.
There is also a massage setting which offers various levels of vibrations but we didn’t tend to have this on during the movie, as it can be distracting and a little noisy.
The Bed Cinema Bangkok also includes slippers, so you can slip off your shoes and pop on the slippers for extra comfort. Personally, we ended up just wearing our socks on the bed instead of the slippers.
Prices and Ticket Information
The Bed Cinema Bangkok is undeniably a premium experience, and the prices reflect that. You can get single beds for 1000B but may end up next to someone else. We chose the Queen Bed, costing 2000B for the pair. When booking your bed on the SF Cinema website, the darker blue beds are the queen beds, and the lighter blue beds are individual, single beds.
When it comes to availability, you may need to book your bed in advance, especially for popular movies. We saw The Fantastic Beasts movie here, so a popular choice! We needed to book a bed two days before in order to secure a queen bed.
TIP: When booking any movie in Thailand, make sure to check the language. Movies will have TH with Sub: ENG if it is in Thai with English subtitles, or EN with Sub: Thai for movies in English with Thai subtitles. Most Western movies tend to be English with Thai subtitles, especially if they are in The Bed Cinema, but make sure to double check!
What’s Included in the Price for The Bed Cinema bangkok
The cost of a ticket to The Bed Cinema includes much more than just the movie itself, here is what is included:
- A Private Bed for Two: Your ticket includes access to a private bed for two people. The beds are designed for maximum comfort, allowing you to recline and relax during the movie.
- Blankets and Pillows: Each bed comes equipped with freshly laundered pillows and blankets. These are not just throwaway accessories; they’re high-quality, soft, and perfect for snuggling up during the movie.
- Slippers: Upon entering the theater, guests are provided with slippers to wear during the screening. This small touch adds an extra layer of comfort, allowing you to feel completely at home.
Snack Package: The Bed Cinema Bangkok includes a small selection of snacks to enjoy during the movie. There is a luxurious waiting area full of snacks, soft drinks and coffee, with small trays for you to fill and take in to the cinema with you. Snacks vary but during our visit, there were 4 flavors of popcorn: caramel, classic, paprika and cheese. There were boxes of cereal as we visited for the first screen around 10.30am as well as crisps and taro chips. There were also small bags of biscuits and nut mix too; the only thing I would have loved to be included was some chocolate items. Drinks available included, sprite, cola, fantastic, Diet Coke, milk, and coffee.
The service
The staff at The Bed Cinema are attentive and friendly, ensuring that guests have everything they need to enjoy the experience. You can expect to be greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival and guided to your bed by staff members. They also take care of any requests or adjustments that might arise during the movie.
Is The Bed Cinema Bangkok worth it?
We love going to the cinema but whether The Bed Cinema is worth it, depends on your love and interest. To give some greater context for newbies to Thailand, cinema tickets can be incredibly cheap; typical standard seats costing between 180B to 240B.
This experience is a luxurious, fun experience that is definitely worth it if you are seeing a movie you are really into. I love Harry Potter, so catching the latest Fantastic Beasts movie at The Bed Cinema was well worth the additional cost. However, if you have specific foods you are looking for, or are watching a movie you aren’t 100% sure you are going to enjoy, then perhaps opt for one of the cheaper options.
For couples, The Bed Cinema is also an ideal date night destination. The intimate setting, cozy beds, and relaxing atmosphere create a romantic environment that’s perfect for enjoying a film together. While it’s a little pricier than dinner and a movie, the experience is far more memorable and special.
On the other hand, if you’re simply looking to watch a movie without any frills, then the higher price tag might not be justifiable. In that case, you might prefer to stick with a standard cinema experience, which is still available at SF World Cinema in the same mall for a fraction of the cost.
