Thee Bangkok Hotel Full Review
The Location
Address: 9/1 Sukumvit 20, Wattana, Khlong Toei, 10110 Bangkok, Thailand
Nearest BTS: Asok; approximately a 10-minute walk.
Location Pros:
As you walk into THEE Bangkok hotel you are greeted by a friendly doorman who is eager to take your bags and help you to your room. It’s a wonderful way to start your stay!
The hotel is right in the middle of Sukhumvit, one of the best areas to stay in Bangkok with plenty of restaurants, bars, and nightlife, and near many of the best shopping malls in Bangkok.
The location of this hotel makes it perfect for anyone who wants to explore the heart of Bangkok, especially if you want to focus more on eating and drinking. It is also only 13 miles from the airport, however, this can be quite the drive in traffic and you may actually end up saving time by taking a train into the city.
There are plenty of amazing cocktail bars in the area such as Sugar Ray, You’ve Just Been Poisoned, or MidlifeCrisi.BKK, all within a 20-minute walk. It is also only a 10-minute walk to Soi Cowboy if that is more of your nightlife scene.
THEE Bangkok is also close to a few BTS stations which will allow you to travel around the city if you want to explore areas further out without having to get stuck in the crazy traffic that Bangkok is known for.
A highlight of the location is that it is right in the heart of Sukhumvit, however, it is down a sleepy side street so you feel like you get the best of both peace and close proximity to all the happenings of the city.
Location Cons:
If it is your first time in the city and you want to explore some of the top sights such as the Leaning Buddha or the Grand Palace in the Old Town, you will have to spend a lot of time on a BTS train – think, more than an hour so you’ll want to have some fun road trip questions to kill the time if you choose this option.
You could also use Grab, the local version of Uber, but this can take just as much time as Bangkok is infamous for its horrific traffic.
This makes this location a less than ideal spot for those wanting to make the most of their time and you would be better served staying outside Sukhumvit to be able to spend less time traveling to these destinations.
It’s also important to note that you must be 18 to stay in THEE Bangkok so this is not a great location for families.
The Room
When you’re looking at places to stay in Bangkok, you definitely want to know about the rooms!
The rooms are very clean and simple, painted in warm colors and you feel at home when you walk into them. The beds in the rooms at THEE Bangkok are very soft and comfortable and you will sleep soundly after your busy day of exploring.
There is also very powerful AC which you will appreciate even if you come from hot places like North Carolina and are used to the heat – Bangkok heat is a different animal!
One of the best parts of the room is the gigantic desk that stretches almost the entire length of the room. This is a great place to put all the trinkets you collect during your stay and makes the room feel quite posh.
The rooms all feature a safe, clothing rack, and a mini fridge if you don’t finish your dinner and want to save it for a late-night snack.
If you want a more luxurious or romantic experience, THEE Bangkok offers suites complete with a glass-enclosed bathtub and views over the city. This option is highly recommended as you can’t beat the beauty of this room for the price.
Regardless of the room you choose, the value for your money is there and the rooms are wonderful.
A few cons to mention are that all rooms are one bedroom only, making the hotel not ideal for large groups and better for couples. The superior double or twin rooms do not have any windows and can make the room feel a little stifling. They do provide light boxes, but they only do so much. If you are someone who spends more time out sightseeing than in your room, it likely won’t be too much of a bother!
The Facilities
A negative of THEE Bangkok Hotel is that it does not offer very many facilities. If this is important to you when looking at where to stay in Bangkok, this may not be the hotel for you. Let’s look at the facilities it does have:
The Lobby Bar
There is a small lobby bar that is a nice place to relax and have a cocktail while you unwind from travel and you can get a few snacks there as well. However, there are no larger meals served and the hotel does not serve any breakfast. Considering the central location, there are plenty of restaurants very close by so this is not a huge deal.
A recommended option for breakfast is “Breakfast Story” which is only a 3-minute walk from the hotel. This is a great place to try Thai Iced Coffee which is so much better than the iced coffee served at Raleigh Coffee Shops, or other shops in other large, American cities.
There are also many street food carts right outside the hotel that you see mostly locals eating at; no tourists. If you are more of an adventurous eater, this is a fun thing to check out!
The Gym
THEE Bangkok offers guests a 24-hour gym that is complete with cardio equipment and weights. Whether you prefer to get a vacation workout in during the morning or night, the gym is pretty quiet and offers a decent selection of equipment than the standard hotel gym.
Room Prices
As with all hotels, prices vary depending on the season and how long you stay so make sure you compare prices on all the different booking websites. However, here are some general ideas of prices per night in USD and Thai Baht:
ROOM TYPE | PRICE (USD/THB) |
Superior Double Or Twin Room (No window) | $70 / 2500B |
Deluxe Double or Twin | $82 / 2900B |
Suite | $110 / 3900B |
